Locations & Technology - Planning and Construction of a New Logistics Center with Fully Automated High-Bay Warehouse
Kreyenhop & Kluge GmbH & Co. KG specializes in the import and wholesale of Asian food products and, with its 90-year company history, is one of the most successful distributors worldwide.
With a range of around 3,500 food and non-food items, Kreyenhop & Kluge offers an authentic experience of distant cultures. This includes globally renowned brands as well as new product developments created in collaboration with partners.

Challenge - Construction of a Second Site
Over the past ten years, the company has approximately doubled its revenue, reaching the capacity limits at its Oyten location. Therefore, a plot of around 25,000 m² was acquired in a neighboring industrial area in 2021 to establish a second site. The existing location was to be retained. During the intensive planning phase with Schulte Berater + Planer acting as logistics planner and project manager, the usage concept was defined within just four months.
Solution - Intensive Planning and Preparation Leading to Construction Start
This was followed by detailed logistical and economic planning. Project partners for general planning (architecture and specialist engineers) were brought on board, and after another six months, the plans were ready for building application submission. Tenders for construction trades, warehouse technology, and software followed, allowing the construction of the new logistics center to successfully begin in mid-2023 after a total of 18 months of intensive planning and preparation.
Completion is scheduled for May 2025. We are happy to provide more detailed information about the developments of this project.

- Compensating for complex shuttle handling: Improving processes in other warehouse areas to balance the added complexity in the shuttle-operated storage
- Separating picking and storage processes: Establishing a dedicated picking zone, eliminating the need for picking in the block or rack storage areas
