Organization - The Glossner Brewery Optimises its Framework Route Planning System
The Glossner Brewery, a family-owned business since 1574 located in Neumarkt, Upper Palatinate, produces 31 varieties of beer and non-alcoholic beverages with 84 employees.
In addition to brewing, Glossner also operates in several other sectors, including its own beverage markets, gastronomy, vending machines, and festival services. As a brewery with a wide range of products, Glossner prioritizes meeting high standards of both quality and taste.
In close collaboration with Schulte Berater + Planer, the brewery identified and implemented several optimization opportunities by reviewing its route planning. The results were significant, leading to improved customer service and transport cost savings in the double-digit percentage range.

Our Challenge - Significant efficiency gains through the revision of route planning
At the beginning of the project, Glossner did not have a system-supported route planning system. There were inconsistencies in nearly all delivery routes in the examined areas of outbound logistics and home delivery. Moreover, the delivery zones were not well-structured. Revising the route planning was expected to yield substantial efficiency gains.
Our Solution - Analyzing the current situation using data and identifying route-related weaknesses
- Comparing productivity with industry benchmark values and noting approaches for workflow improvements
- Developing a target scenario with optimized route planning, a tailored fleet, and a personnel structure
- Achieving better utilization of delivery routes, a reduction of kilometers travelled, and the elimination of unnecessary vehicles, resulting in cost savings
- Utilizing the data collected to calculate transport costs more accurately for each customer
Our Result - By optimizing its route planning, Glossner Brewery achieved
- an improved customer service
- a better cost-performance ratio
- significant reductions in transport costs
